Hot Trends From London Fashion Week by Lydia Howard – Designer

October 6, 2008

London was awash with excitement last week as Designers released their newest creations for Spring/Summer 2009 onto the UK catwalks. Here’s a brief run down of some of the most exciting shoes we saw on the runway.

Clothing exhibited a mixed and varied colour pallet, conversation pieces ranged from clash colour blocking to large and small-scale floral prints. Footwear did not miss out with Luella and Nathan Jenden using soft sherbet brights in lavenders, mint green and pinks.

Over the last couple of seasons we have seen exciting new heel shapes and Basso & Brooke continued with this trend for SS09, playing with proportions, scale and colours on their novelty heels.

Ruffles and frills added a feminine 3D decoration to Emma Cook’s collection, whereas strapping, caging and buckles made a frequent appearance with the most desirable seen at Christopher Kane and Giles.

Snake created a buzz of texture and colour both in natural and brights for Sinha-Stanic and Armand Basi.

Looks like shoes remain the ‘it’ accessory for next season too!
